Rural Outdoor Lighting District - Dark Skies (Unincorporated Areas)

The proposed Ordinance will establish the District with regulations that will conserve energy and resources and promote dark skies for the enjoyment and health of humans and wildlife, while permitting reasonable uses of outdoor lighting for nighttime safety and security. The regulations include limitations on allowable light trespass, fully shielding outdoor lighting, and imposes maximum heights of fixtures. The draft ordinance includes requirements for street lighting in rural areas, outdoor recreation facilities and signs. The draft map depicts areas located within the proposed District. Commuter Mode Share and Travel Time (2005-2017)
data.lacounty.gov | Last Updated 2019-10-01T21:47:55.000ZCommute Mode Share: The U.S. Census American Community Survey (ACS) 1yr Table B08134 for the years 2005 to 2017 was used to calculate the mode share for commute trips for these years. The ACS gives total number for the following categories: drove alone, carpooled, public transit, walk, and other. These numbers were divided by the total number of survey respondents to calculate the percent of commuters utilizing each of these modes of transportation and presented the information graphically and in tabular form. Average Commute Time: Data from the U.S. Census American Community Survey 1yr Table S0802 for the years 2005 to 2017 was used for average commute time and presented this data for those years in a table with the commute mode share.
