2018 Cambridge Building Energy and Water Use Disclosure Data

This dataset contains compliance status and energy and water use data gathered through the Building Energy Use Disclosure Ordinance (BEUDO). Property details, energy use and water use data are submitted by property owners or managers whose properties are subject to BEUDO through an online energy and water use benchmarking tool called ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager. Parcel level property information is obtained from the City of Cambridge Property Database. Energy and water use information submitted by property owners and managers is shown for properties that first began reporting in the 2015 BEUDO reporting cycle. These include nonresidential properties 50,000 square feet or more, residential properties with 50 or more units and municipal properties 10,000 square feet or more. In 2016, nonresidential properties 25,000 square feet or more began submitting reports for the first time and their data was disclosed beginning in 2017. Please note that the “Property Type” column distinguishes reports based on whether they contain information about a single building or multiple buildings. If you are running summary statistics on this dataset, make sure to avoid duplicating data by filtering for “single” reports and “parent” reports. Child properties are buildings also included in parent reports. The “Buildings Included” column details what buildings are included in parent reports, with the first building ID indicating the parent property.

Commonwealth Connect Service Requests - Rodent Sightings

Non-emergency service requests submitted through Cambridge's Commonwealth Connect application powered by SeeClickFix Open311. Please note that the City of Cambridge uses Commonwealth Connect to track both public and internal work orders. Occasionally, a ticket will change from internal to public, or vice-versa. All tickets that originated as public requests are included in this dataset. However, technical constraints prevent us from displaying information for tickets that originated as internal work orders. Prior to using Commonwealth Connect, the City utilized iReport. Cambridge Address Points

This project was done in house as part of the Master Address Project. Thorough field checks have been carried out to ensure accuracy. Crosschecks have been made with various departments, including Assessing, Community Development, Elections, Emergency Communications, Inspectional Services, and Public Works. Each address point has attribute information including addresses, unique tax parcel ID and building ID which is useful for many different city departments for their respective systems and tools. Aside from housing and business addresses the following have also been included in this layer:Empty lots for potential addresses Parks and open space addresses Call box locations. This point layer includes all address points in the City of Cambridge. These are mapped to the doorway location of the building whenever possible. Street Sweeping Schedule

This dataset contains the street sweeping schedule for 2016. Public Works mechanically sweeps each street in Cambridge once per month, April through December (weather permitting). Signs are posted on each residential street indicating the schedule, which differs by city district and street side. In order to ensure that streets are properly cleaned, cars must move off the side of the street being swept to avoid being ticketed and towed. The Cambridge Open Data portal contains a related dataset called Street Sweeping Districts, which is a polygon layer illustrating the districts on a map. That dataset is available here: https://data.cambridgema.gov/Geographic-Information-GIS-/Street-Sweeping-Districts/upm7-2w6p. Street sweeping does not occur on holidays. Sweeping that would otherwise fall on a holiday is rescheduled for an alternate date. This dataset indicates when sweeping is rescheduled for an alternate day due to a holiday. Holiday schedule is: Patriot's Day, April 18th will be swept on April 29th Independence Day, July 4th will be swept on June 29th Labor Day, September 5th will be swept on August 29th Columbus Day, October 10th will be swept on September 29th Veteran's Day, November 11th will be swept on October 31st Thanksgiving Day, November 24th will be swept on November 29th Christmas holiday, December 26th -will be swept on December 29th In addition to neighborhood sweeping, City squares are cleaned daily: on weekdays from 7 am to 3 pm, weekends and holidays from 4 am to 8 am (street sweeping) and 6 am to 10 am (hand-cleaning crew). Litter barrels in squares are emptied twice daily on weekdays and three times daily on weekends. Workforce By Industry: 2001 - 2018

This data set indicates how many people employed in Cambridge are covered by the unemployment insurance compensation system, the number employed by economic sector, and how much these workers earn. The data covers the work force in Cambridge, regardless of their place of residence, and are taken from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, ES-202 Series based on the requirements set forth in the Massachusetts Employment Security Law and the Compensation for Federal Employees Law. Note that the unemployment compensation system does cover all workers, excluding groups such as the self-employer, religious workers and some domestic workers. This data set assigns workers to sectors using the North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code system. Prior to 2001 only the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system was used to assign workers to sectors. Older, historic data is available in the open data set "Cambridge Workforce By Industry: 1967 - 2001". The 2001 figures summarize the same raw data but are recoded to NAICS here. Note that Natural Resources and Mining establishments are not included in the industry breakdown but are included in total employment.

Traffic Speed Studies

The Traffic, Parking &Transportation department has conducted over 600 speed studies since 1987. Some locations have been studied more than once. The speed of each passing vehicle is recorded by radar for an hour each in the morning rush hour, evening rush hour, and midday. From these results, we find the 85th percentile speed for each one-hour period. The 85th percentile speed describes a speed that 85% of drivers are traveling slower than (and 15% of people are driving faster than). Traffic engineers use 85th percentile speed for most traffic safety analyses and design standards. In this dataset, the speed reported is the highest 85th percentile speed for all three one-hour periods studied.
